How many lights do you need? What kind of light do you recommend? I recommend using snake lights on tall trees. On a 10 foot full bodied tree, you will need 5-7 strands of 74 foot snake lights to use the zig zag lighting technique. On a 7 foot tree, you will need 3-4 strands of snake lights, depending on the fullness of the tree. On a 6 foot tree, you will need 3 strands of snake lights, or 3 strands of 50 foot cluster lights. Cluster lights are also perfect for mantels, garland, and wreaths. I also love a cluster light run down the trunck of tree with snake lights lighting the branches. There are so many options!

Always add lights! Before you decorate your tree, mantel, or wreath, add lights. Whether you are decorating a tree that is pre-lit or not, you should add lights.
